ABOUT OUR DESIGNER

Hello again my crochet friends!

I’m Briana from Briana K Designs, and I’m thrilled to be here with another pattern. I previously designed another home décor piece called the Hello Pumpkin Pillow which also uses colorwork for a fun fall theme. Now a little bit about myself. I’m fluent in gif, it’s the language we all understand and it’s so animated. Why not keep communication lighthearted, right? I also love being warm, so the Florida sun and sand are my happy place. My favorite thing to do is mix up a cocktail, get out a cozy chair, and lay out with my crochet.

I hope you enjoy this festive crochet project and have a merry holiday season!

Notes

- The Falalalala Crochet Table Runner pattern is worked in rows from the bottom to the top.

- After the end of each row turn and ch 1. The ch 1 does not count as a stitch.

-For left hand crocheters, start at the bottom left of the chart instead of the bottom right.

- Since there is a wrong side and a right side to the table runner, I used a combination of intarsia and carrying yarn across the back for the color work. Experiment and see what works best for you.

This is a colorwork technique project with rewarding results. I highly recommend using bobbins to keep yourself from being wrapped up in tangles. For a free sheep bobbin and more about colorwork visit here.

Special Tip: When chaining a large number of stitches try out this trick to prevent any twists in your starting chain, tutorial here.

Border:

Row 1: With Color B yarn, join and ch 1, sc in first, *ch 1, skip 1, s in next*; repeat from * to * until last stitch, sc in the last stitch, turn.

Row 2: With Color A yarn, join and ch 1, sc in first, *ch 1, skip 1, s in next*; repeat from * to * until last stitch, sc in the last stitch, turn.

Repeat Border Rows 1-2 on other side of table runner.

-Fasten off and weave in ends.

Fringe:
It is completely optional if you would like to put fringe on the ends of your table runner. I’ve fallen in love with twisted fringe and I think you just might too. Use a 5mm crochet hook to work the fringe. For video instructions visit here.

STEP 1:
Slip stitch to your project at a corner or where you want to begin.

STEP 2:
Pull the yarn away from your project for the desired amount. The twisted fringe will be just less than half of this height.

STEP 3:
Place your finger onto the loop on the crochet hook so it stays in place for the first spin. Rotate your hook clockwise about 15-17 times. The loop will now look very twisted.

STEP 4:
Place your left index finger in front of the twisted loop and bring the hook down and over your finger to your project edge. Slip stitch in the next space.

STEP 5:
Take your left finger out of the fringe and watch it snap into its twist. If it needs adjusting, gently tug so that it’s straight without any knots.

And that’s it! Repeat these steps along the edge of your project for some awesome looking fringe!
